Overview

The Leafguard Regional Safety Manager assists in the implementation and performance of Leafguard’s Safety Management System and processes to ensure a safe, injury and incident-free work environment. This includes the implementation and evaluation of safety initiatives, injury and illness prevention strategies, safe working practices, program development/enhancement and all safety education and training that increases employee hazard awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with company leaders and employees to enhance Leafguard’s Safety Culture
  • Visit production and jobsite areas on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support
  • Travel to and conduct comprehensive Jobsite Safety Audits and Branch Safety Audits and document unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Ensure corrective measures are immediately implemented or follow through to ensure corrections have been made according to company, industry and regulatory safety and health standards
  • Develop weekly safety training topics and lead Toolbox Talks when at a branch
  • Participate and lead safety discussions in regional weekly virtual huddles
  • Provide monthly Safety KPIs to branches under the position’s purview, using safety software, as part of an employee recognition program
  • Administrative functions include but are not limited to:

o Completion of paperwork associated with safety inspections, incident investigations, employee training, safety orientations, job hazard analyses, et al.

  • Communicate consistently with the Regional Directors, General Managers and Production Managers and crewmembers as it relates to Leafguard Safety processes and policies
  • Develop safety training content and assist in New-hire Orientation Safety Training
  • Conduct Incident Investigations and lead Learning from Incident Events (LFIs).
  • Coordinate and support Safety Committees.
  • Continuously seek to improve the effectiveness of the department’s procedures
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the Director of EHS

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (or Masters) in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Mechanical Engineering, Risk Management or closely related field from an accredited college or university (Preferred).
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience which includes developing, leading, maintaining and sustaining EHS programs across a multi-location scale, and any of the following preferred certifications:

o Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

o Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST)

o Associate in Risk Management (ARM)

o Any other related professional designation pertinent to EHS management

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present training and other information and respond to questions from workers, managers, clients, customers, and the public.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong visionary, communication and leadership skills to promote environmental, health and safety to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to speak effectively with larger audiences regarding various EHS subjects and emerging trends.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively utilizing all available resources to exceed expectations.
  • Demonstrates strategic orientation, problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time throughout eastern region of U.S.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and scaffolds as required to perform inspections.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various and sometimes extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer certification preferred.
  • Must have a current Driver’s License.
  • Must have Proof of Insurance.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) with little or no difficulty.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
